Perio 2

Department of Periodontology

Periodontology is the discipline of dentistry principally concerned with the treatment of supporting structures of tooth and gums.

At the Department of Periodontology, we educate dental students, a discipline focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease and in the placement of dental implants — in a setting that emphasizes sound biological principles and evidence-based approaches.

As the motto at FDS stands, quality patient care at the forefront with research as its corner stone is the praxis. Newer advances in the field such as LASERs, aesthetic periodontal procedures, microsurgery and piezosurgery are also at students’ disposal. The students are also motivated to participate in international and national level conferences, workshops and symposia. It encompasses several areas of periodontal health, immunity and regeneration, microbiology in periodontal infection, epidemiology and outcome assessments. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities all employed for best treatment care and management.

This amalgamation of research based clinical work while providing quality treatment care to our patients gives our students an edge off of their peers.
