Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialty field of dentistry that includes investigation and surgical management of various types of diseases and deformities occurring in the mouth, jaw, head and neck region.

The program offered by the Department covers the gamut of surgical interventions from standard tooth removals to treatment of deformities, abnormalities, trauma, and cancer. This often includes surgical reconstruction, correction and placement of implants. Students are also taught to treat dental and facial pain and trauma, and nerve disorders.

The Department offers an immersive and hands-on learning experience with the chance to observe faculty members in complex procedures and surgeries.

Students are encouraged to develop a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to treatment, and to work closely with other medical streams to ensure the best medical care for their patient.

Over the years, the Department has filed for multiple patents, a testament to its focus on research and innovation.
