Faculty of Dental Sciences undergraduates students (Ms. Yukta HN and Ms. Prishitha R Shetty) were selected for the “Summer school programme — 2022 at Ghent University, BELGIUM.”
The students applied for the Summer School Programme at Ghent with great enthusiasm and were looking for an enriching experience to advance their budding careers. Under the guidance of their mentors the students wrote a convincing letter to the admissions office at Ghent University. Fortunately, both had the great privilege to be two of the 20 international participants at the Summer School Ghent — Health and Globalization, 2022. The Summer School curriculum was delivered offline at Ghent Medical University in Belgium, Europe, from July 3 through July 14, 2022.
The students were exposed to new cultures & mesmerizing architecture, their sought-after healthcare system and also gained lifelong friends. The classes conducted were on varied topics, from “On biopolitics, power, and health” by Prof. Dr. Ignaas Devisch to “Universal Health Coverage” The students visited their hospitals and were enlightened on their emergency care & health care system; they spent time at a refugee camp and learnt about the life of a refugee in Belgium and how healthcare and other resources are provided to them.
Being two representatives of FDS, RUAS and India at large it was a proud moment for the FDS students, exchanging social concepts, debating on medical, dental & health topics and showcasing our ethnicity really proved to be a holistic and life changing experience. They returned recently with renewed enthusiasm and wonderful memories to cherish for a lifetime.
